Grievance & Appeals

Every student has the right to raise a grievance and to have it heard and decided fairly, promptly and without any disadvantage for having raised it. Grievances can cover things like admission decisions that don’t match the published policy, withheld documents or transcripts, charges above the published fees, delayed scholarships or results, the quality of a service, discrimination, or the conduct of a staff member toward a student.

1

Start informally

Raise it with the relevant office; informal resolution is attempted within 5 working days and is not required before a formal grievance.

2

Lodge a formal grievance

Online through the Student Support Portal (or in writing). It is acknowledged within 3 working days and put before the Student Grievance Redressal Committee within 15 days.

3

Committee Decision

The Committee decides, with reasons, within 15 working days.

4

Appeal to Ombudsperson

If you’re not satisfied, appeal to the independent Student Ombudsperson within 15 days; the Ombudsperson decides within 30 days and can order remedies such as a refund, restoring your academic position, correcting records, or an apology.

⚠️

Important

Complaints of sexual harassment, ragging or bullying go to their own routes, not through the grievance route. A support-portal ticket reference is only an acknowledgement β€” it is not a decision, and closing a ticket does not resolve a grievance.
